I wrote recently about adding NuGet packages to TDS V5 and was very excited for the addition myself. I think this feature will really help bring Sitecore development full circle by increasing your build flexibility. Unfortunately, we didn't make the next NuGet release. For this reason, we won't be able to release TDS V5 with NuGet support.
Don't get too worried though! While we might have missed this cut off, I expect the change to be included in the next release. The change request to NuGet is quite small and should be approved. I plan to release a point release of TDS that includes NuGet support once the change request is accepted and added to the project. I don't have a timeline on that but will hopefully know more about that in the weeks to come.
Even without NuGet there are tons of useful and exciting improvements in TDS 5 that will really excite you. Look out for more feature releases in the immediate future.
