TDS How To: Install the TDS Connector for Rocks 2.0

October 06, 2016 | Kliment Klimentov

The TDS connector for Sitecore Rocks 2.0 is part of the TDS release. As of now the plug-in hasn't been added to the Sitecore Rocks online repository, so instead we'll walk through installing it manually:

First, install the latest version of TDS and Sitecore Rocks 2.0 into Visual Studio to ensure everything works correctly. The TDS connector for Sitecore Rocks is included in the zip package containing the TDS installation, under the 'NuGetPackages' folder.

You'll need to open Visual Studio and from the VS menu, navigate to 'Sitecore' -> 'Manage Plugins…':

Open Visual Studio and navigate to Sitecore - Manage Plugins

After that you'll need to create a local repository through the Feeds button and point it to the location of the extracted NuGetPackages folder (or a location of your choosing where you will keep the TDS NuGet package).

The package will be detected by Sitecore Rocks and you'll be able to find it on Rock's plug-in manager, under the Online section -> Local Repository:

Rocks Plugin Manager under Online Section - Local Repository

Clicking the Install button on the TDS 2 Rocks Connector will enable you to use the latest Sitecore Rocks with TDS.
